And I was the "Lead off batter"
To begin the very "1st inning"
And would I hit a "Homerun"

"Bottom of the 9th"
It seemed that I had "Struck out"
For you had thrown the nasty "Curve ball"
Which left no room for doubt
You laid down your "Glove" and left
Yes you left the "Field" for good
So I made my way to
the "Dugout"
Tipped my hat like good "Sportsmen" should
The score was "13 zip"
And this "Shutout" I had
to face
Yes the game had gone in your favor
With a "Pinch hitter" taking my place
